Terms of use

Hesafi is a KasiLabs product. These terms are between you and KasiLabs ("we"), registration number [Business registration number]. Card purchases are sold by Polar as reseller and merchant of record, under Polar's buyer terms; your right to use Hesafi comes from these terms. M-PESA purchases are sold by us directly. You accept these terms, and our privacy notice, when you tick the box before creating your books; the app records the date and version you accepted.

• A licence lets you use the versions of Hesafi released while its Hesafi Care is on (section 3), for as long as you like, including after Care ends.
• You can activate it on up to 3 devices. Books don't sync between devices yet.
• Cloud backup, when it is available, comes with every paid licence, whether or not Care is on.
• The licensee name (your business name or a masked email) is shown on your exports.
• A licence is for one business. Don't resell, share or publish licence keys.
• When your device is online, Hesafi checks your licence with our server from time to time. If a licence is refunded, charged back, or used in breach of these terms (for example shared beyond its devices), we can switch it off; the app then falls back to the free plan, and your books stay on your device, readable and exportable.
• The free plan includes unlimited invoices, manual bookkeeping, basic reports and encrypted backups, and may change in future versions.

• Every licence includes 12 months of Hesafi Care from the day you buy it. After that, Care is optional: yearly, or in Kenya also monthly by M-PESA, at the prices on our pricing page when you pay. Care follows your licence's edition.
• Each payment adds 12 months (or 1 month) to your Care, counted from the day it would have ended or from the day you pay, whichever is later. Care benefits keep working for 30 days after it ends.
• While Care is on you get new versions and tax tables, sync between your devices once it is available, priority support on WhatsApp and AI credits with each payment. In Kenya it also covers filing turnover tax and nil returns through KRA's GavaConnect, once KRA approves Hesafi for it.
• When Care ends, Hesafi keeps working on the versions released while it was on, and your local and cloud backups continue. New versions, tax tables, sync, filing and priority support stop until you pay for Care again. Credits you already have stay yours.

Optional AI tasks are priced in credits, and the cost is shown before each task runs. Credits don't expire and can't be transferred to another licence. Refunds follow the refund policy. Your bookkeeping never stops when you have no credits.

Tax workings are aids for you or your accountant to check. Rules marked "unverified" in the app may be wrong. Hesafi doesn't issue eTIMS invoices or other electronic tax invoices, and never files with SARS. Where Care covers filing with KRA, a return is filed only after you check it and confirm it, and you remain responsible for what it says. Check your figures with a qualified adviser before you file.

Don't use Hesafi to break the law, to attack or overload our servers, to get around licence checks, or to send AI tasks that aren't about your bookkeeping.

Licence activation, AI tasks, credit purchases and Care services (sync, filing, cloud backup) need our servers and are provided on a best-effort basis. The bookkeeping app works offline without them.

Hesafi is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law in Kenya or South Africa.

M-PESA is a trademark of Safaricom PLC. Hesafi is not affiliated with Safaricom, KRA or SARS.

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. If something goes wrong, contact us first on WhatsApp or by email and we'll try to resolve it; if we can't, the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction, without affecting any right you have to go to the courts or regulators where you live.

We may update these terms. We'll change the version and date above, and give at least 30 days' notice in the app before a change that reduces your rights. Changes never take away versions you already have a licence for.
